We thought we'd remind you to watch your portion sizes this weekend...

25 January 2019

Most people are very confused as to what our portion sizes are so let me simplify it for you.

Try using your hands as your guide: your left hand represents your vegetable portion – about the size of a snooker ball for each portion. Your right palm, size and depth, represents your protein portion – meat, fish, eggs, pulses etc., and your right fingers represent your complex carbohydrate portion – potatoes, pasta, rice etc., again this would be about the size of a snooker ball.

Most people initially look at the portion size and think it won't be enough but try it. You'll be surprised. Not only are you making sure that you don't overeat, which can have a negative impact on digestive symptoms (more about digestive dysfunction later), but you may also rediscover your eating 'off' switch so that you can stop eating when you feel full.

Please let us know how you get on.

Have a great weekend!

I have been following the advice from Nutrition Mission for just over a month, I have been "going to the gym" for a number of years, I thought I knew how to eat... Wrong! The advice I got from the specialist's at Nutrition Mission has given me more energy, I am eating less junk, but more good stuff, I am less hungry, I lift more weight, thanks NM
