Are you on a mission looking for nutritional health?

We thought we'd remind you to watch your portion sizes this weekend...

25 January 2019

Most people are very confused as to what our portion sizes are so let me simplify it for you.

Try using your hands as your guide: your left hand represents your vegetable portion – about the size of a snooker ball for each portion. Your right palm, size and depth, represents your protein portion – meat, fish, eggs, pulses etc., and your right fingers represent your complex carbohydrate portion – potatoes, pasta, rice etc., again this would be about the size of a snooker ball.

Most people initially look at the portion size and think it won't be enough but try it. You'll be surprised. Not only are you making sure that you don't overeat, which can have a negative impact on digestive symptoms (more about digestive dysfunction later), but you may also rediscover your eating 'off' switch so that you can stop eating when you feel full.

Please let us know how you get on.

Have a great weekend!

Before I saw my therapist I was concerned that I would hear lots of "don't eat this etc". I was relieved that the attitude to change was very positive and easy to cope with. The changes I've made have had benefits already and I now feel much more confident about food choices. I would highly recommend the service.
