CONDITIONS WE CAN HELP WITH...

Genital Herpes

Also known as herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2), genital herpes is characterised as small blisters that occur around the genitals. It is caught by direct skin contact when the virus is active and said to be incurable as the virus penetrates the nervous system where it lays dormant between attacks. Outbreaks can follow infections, trauma, stress and hormonal changes. The initial outbreak is far more painful than subsequent attacks and lasts from 2 - 6 weeks; outbreaks after this time usually last approximately a week.

Nutritionally there are many things that Nutrition Mission can recommend in the treatment of the herpes group of viruses. Firstly, restriction of high arginine content foods along with an increase in foods containing lysine. These are amino acids that are found in our everyday diets that are similar to each other and by increasing lysine foods we are effectively starving the virus so that it cannot present. By presenting a food diary to your nutritional therapist he or she will be able to determine what balance of these amino acids you are getting and how best to redress the balance. Your nutritional therapist will also determine whether or not you need to supplement lysine in order to reduce the severity and amount of outbreaks that occur for you.
Back
I visited Nutrition Mission for both myself and my 3yr old daughter. I suffer with an arthritic hip and my daughter with eczema. Following a consultation with the nutritional therapist, they recommended supplements for us to take along with some dietary changes. After a couple of weeks there was a remarkable difference in both of us. Katie's legs were clear of her eczema and my hip virtually pain free! It is now some months since first seeing Nutrition Mission. Katie's legs remain clear and even during this very cold spell I am not suffering at all! I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nutrition Mission for all their help and can totally recommend nutritional therapy to all!
